TRUE LOVE AT TULANE 2026
by Theo Mitchell
Imagine this: you’re on your way to class, a Tulane game, or maybe a late-night hang. And then—you see them. Time stops. It’s as if the hands of a clock freeze, and suddenly nothing around you matters except them. You thought Tulane was just a four-year decision. Little did you know it would become the beginning of a forever match made in the Big Easy.
What you’re about to read is the latest installment of love stories submitted by your peers—your classmates, dorm neighbors, cohort members, and fellow Greenies from all over the globe. Each entry shares the romantic twists and turns of how two became one. So, sit back and enjoy True Love at Tulane.
Note: submissions have been provided from alumni and are featured in their words below.
Kelsey Milligan (PHTM ’15) & Brandon Brazile (SLA ’15)
It all started with an urgent need for a formal date in 2013. Kelsey asked a friend to set her up. Enter Brandon.
A fun night of laughter and dancing turned into years of Brandon sneaking out Bruff cookies for Kelsey, late night sushi at Little Tokyo, countless memories exploring a city we love, and becoming best friends.
After a brief courtship of only 9 years, we finally tied the knot in 2022 in NOLA!
Dr. Alissa (PHTM ’95) & Dr. Robert (Bobby) Wilson (B ’90)
Bobby and Alissa met when they were both RAs at Tulane. Alissa tutored Bobby in chemistry and they became best friends… now they’ve been married for 26 years.
Dani (B ’16) & Jeremy Michelson (SSE ‘16)
We met just seven days before graduating in 2016 through a mutual friend. He asked me to be his girlfriend for “one week,” and we figured, why not? What’s there to lose? Seven years later, in September 2023, that week turned into forever. Now we’re married, living in New York City with our dog, Harley. ❤️
Dr. Cami (NC ‘89, M *96) & Dr. Louis Jordan (M *96)
We met in Anatomy lab. First date at Mr B’s Bistro. Married NYE of our 3rd year surrounded by our friends from medical school. 31 years later our love is stronger than ever! We love New Orleans so much we bought a place to stay when we visit. Our paths led us to Tulane Medical School where we started our life together!
Jami (NC ’76) and James Gaudet
We met on the Newcomb campus in 1975 as I was dashing to class and he was encircled by girls, chatting. He planned to ask someone in his history class to Tulane’s first football game in the Superdome, but she cut class. I had politely refused a prior invitation. He caught up to me and invited me to the game. That 10-hour date was two children, four grandchildren and 49 years of marriage ago.
Thien-Y Nguyen (SSE ’25) & Braeden King (SSE ’25)
We met freshman year at a club event and have been inseparable ever since. Our first date was at Audubon Park, we became chemistry lab partners, and were together so often our organic chemistry professor once asked, “Why do I always see you two together?” After graduating in 2025, both of us are now medical students at TUSOM and are currently co-writing a paper together. We even have a cat named after Percival Stern hall!
Megan (SCS ’09) and Nick Pepitone (B ’11)
We met outside a Tulane football game at the Superdome, then found our way back to each other later that evening. I played basketball, Nick played baseball, so the teasing began around 6 a.m. with both teams in the weight room in the fall of 2007. Our first official date was Reginelli’s on State Street. After many games cheering each other on and thirteen years of marriage, we’re still teammates—now coaching two little athletes of our own. 💚🏀⚾️
Danielle Statman (SSE ’19) and Sam Shovers (SSE ’18, SSE *19)
Fall 2018 in Psychopharmacology is when our story started. 5 years later we got engaged in Audubon Park — our favorite spot (other than The Boot and Howie T). This March we return to NOLA to tie the knot! Roll Wave!
Zoe (SLA ’16) and Dr. Jake Cross (SLA ’16, M *20)
We met a few days into freshman year, right after hurricane Isaac, and had our first date shortly after that. We shared many fabulous memories together during our time at Tulane and were long distance for four years during grad school. To this day, we still love saying ‘Roll Wave’ to each other. Since graduation we got married, both found jobs in Chicago, and try to come back to New Orleans as often as possible!
Morgan Almasy (B ’23) & Jack Kandell (B ’21, B *22)
Seven years ago, we met at a Tulane DSP rush event. She commented on my dirty suit and the conversation flowed. Unbeknownst to us then, we had met our forever person. Today, we are back in the city where it began, looking at New Orleans wedding venues to make forever official in the place that brought us together.
Annabelle Ogden (SSE ’25) & Sean Swinkle (B ’25)
Sean and Annabelle met at Brunos their freshman year at Tulane. They began dating on April 16, 2022, and stayed together throughout their college years. In May 2025, they both graduated from Tulane. Shortly after, on December 30, 2025, Sean and Annabelle got engaged, marking the start of their next chapter together.
Michelle Tsang (SLA ’22, *M ’26) & Spencer Barbera (SLA ’20, M ’24)
Spencer and Michelle met in Weatherhead Hall in 2019 while working for housing & residence life. Though separated by COVID-19, they reconnected when Michelle started medical school at Tulane in 2022 and have just celebrated 4 years together! Despite them both being from the Northeast — it took them moving halfway across the country to find each other, and they could not be more grateful to Tulane for that!
Macie (SSE ’23) & Dylan Yates (SLA ’23)
Dylan and Macie met at Yulman Stadium during a Tulane football game. What started as a chance meeting on game day grew into a life together. After graduating in May 2023, we were married shortly after and continue to cheer on Tulane as alumni, partners, and best friends.
Kennedy Riggs (B ’24,B *25) & Chandler Welch (SoPA ’29)
Tulane athletics brought us together during our times on the baseball and cheer teams. Busy schedules kept our paths crossing in the training room and workout facilities on campus. What started as a silly school crush grew into a relationship now three years strong. We are both thankful for our time at Tulane and so happy we found True Love at Tulane.
Serin (SSE ’21) & Timothy Smith (SPHTM ’20)
We met at Tulane Catholic, where we bonded over our shared love of music. During COVID, we had our first date with a picnic at Audubon Park. Over the years, we moved between several cities for work and graduate school, eventually celebrating our marriage on January 3, 2026.
