Wave Weekend ’25 Returns: Football, Fun and Festivities for all
By: Mary-Elizabeth Lough, PhD
Wave Weekend is one of Tulane’s signature celebrations — a four-day tradition that brings alumni, families, friends and fans back to campus to reconnect and revel in all things Tulane. From November 13–16, the uptown campus will be buzzing with reunions, insightful discussions, music, fun, football and so much more.
“This year’s Wave Weekend takes place during a historic moment at Tulane University. It is a time for us to celebrate together the unprecedented level of success of our students, the record amount of support for our research and the once-in-a-generation physical expansion of our campuses.”
On Friday, Nov. 14. Fitts’ Presidential Speaker Series will feature Matt Forté (B ’09). The former NFL and Green Wave Football great will share his thoughts on life lessons from on and off the field with Fitts and discuss his new book: Stay in the Game: Making the Most of Every Season.
Later that evening, the ninth annual Tipping Point concert returns to the Orpheum Theater on Friday, November 14. The concert benefits student scholarship support. Unique to this year, the show honors New Orleans 20 years after Hurricane Katrina. The lineup features Ben Jaffe & Preservation Hall Jazz Band, David Shaw of The Revivalists, Taylor & Griffin Goldsmith of Dawes, and Oteil Burbridge of Dead & Company and formerly of The Allman Brothers Band, among others.
Saturday daytime activities mark the return to tailgating and gameday festivities on the main quad as the entire community comes together to celebrate traditions old and new. Alumni can savor gameday favorites with food, drinks and entertainment at the Wave ’25 All-Alumni and Undergraduate Reunion Tailgate, which will be held on the Newcomb Quad. Online registration closes on Monday, November 10 at 11:59 PM CT – register today!
Beyond campus, Wave Weekend is also a time when alumni celebrate reunions across the city. The Emeritus Club ushers in the festive mood on Thursday afternoon with a cocktail reception at the Audubon Clubhouse (6975 Magazine St.). Undergraduate class parties will take place at venues throughout the city including Napoleon House, The Chloe and The NOPSI Hotel, among others.
Back on campus, alumni and families can dive into all that Tulane has to offer. Highlights include open houses, campus tours, lectures, as well as live demonstrations in hot glass, lost wax and cast metal throughout the weekend.
With something for everyone, Wave Weekend is a can’t-miss tradition that celebrates the past, present and future of Tulane.
