LESLEY CASTY GRINBERG (B ’95) & GYL GRINBERG (B ’95)
We had been friends for years until his Sigma Chi Senior Formal. That weekend ended up being the beginning of the rest of our lives. 28 years later and 23 years married, we’ve lived in Mexico, Florida and Georgia. We’ve had 4 dogs, 4 cats and 3 kids (two who are current Tulane students 🙂 Tulane and NOLA are like no other and the best place to meet the love of your life.
Zoe Cross (SLA ’16) & Jake Cross (SLA ’16, M ’20)
We met freshman year right after hurricane Isaac and had our first date shortly after that. We shared many fabulous memories together during our time at Tulane and were long distance for four years during grad school. To this day, we still love saying ‘Roll Wave’ to each other. Since graduation we got married, both found jobs in Chicago, and adopted a beautiful dog named Matilda!
Serena Mammen, MD (SSE ’12) & Max Weber (SSE ’12)
We both lived in Butler freshman year. I was on But7 and he was on But6. Eight years later, we got married. Now we have a house and two dogs, with many more animals to come! 😆
Emily Rubin Egley (NC ’04) and Jarrod Egley (E ’04)
Jarrod Egley and I met and started dating at Tulane. We met each other multiple times at small gatherings of mutual friends, less than twenty people, throughout our college careers. We have photos together, even one of only five of us. We had no recollection of each other and, clearly, never made an impression on either one of us. We finally “met” in February of our senior year through mutual friends, and it finally stuck. We started dating six weeks before graduation. We got married three years later and have been happily married for the last 15 years.
Julianne Korn (NC ’91) & David Korn (A&S ’89, L *92)
He was a philosophy major/music minor and then law student to my music major. We first met on the steps of Dixon Hall. We became fast friends as our piano lessons were back-to-back and we performed on many music programs together. It wasn’t until many years later that we became a couple and here we are 25 years and two sons later. Thanks, Tulane!
Jennifer Weinman Turkel (NC ’87, SW *88) & Kenneth Turkel (B ’86)
We met in January 1984 at a party. I called her a few times but hadn’t summoned the nerve to ask her out. We both had to attend a recital for dance class (PE) and submit a summary. Jen went to the recital; I went to The Boot. I called her to ask about the recital – pure pretext – I wanted a date. First date was March 1, 1984, and we’ve been together since.
Elizabeth Berganza (SLA ’16) & Jacob Pozzi (SLA ’16)
Jacob and I met our senior year at Tulane in the Digital Media Production department and are set to be married this March of 2023! Despite coming from very different places, we managed to find each other at Tulane. I’m so happy to have met my life partner at a school that brings back fond memories, specifically the ones we can share together.
Julianna Lewis (PHTM ’18) & Thomas Morris (SLA ’20 & B ’20)
We met in 2016 on campus, went on 2 dates in New Orleans, and then went long distance while each studying and living over the next few years in Argentina, Vietnam, Mexico, Colombia, and Switzerland. Long distance finally came to an end when we got married in January of 2022 officiated by our Tulane Catholic Center chaplain. Thanks Tulane for launching our love story!
Trisha Hoskins (B ’14) & Adam Hoskins (SLA ’14)
We met one night second semester of freshman year while Adam was working at The Boot and began dating first semester of sophomore year. 12 years later, we are still so thankful that Tulane brought us together!
Heather Collins (NC ’93, SW *94) & Scott Collins (A&S ’93)
Our romance began as freshmen at the condiments bar of the Butler BBQ. We soon learned that we both harkened from the Garden State and shared an appreciation for lazy summers at the Jersey shore and thin crust pizza.
Thirty years and three children later, from our Bay Area home, we look back on those lackadaisical, humid afternoons with deep fondness.
Memories of Tulane are filled with friends, music, parades, and laughter.
Jackie Wilheim (SLA ’11) & Cody Anderson (B ’10)
We met at The Boot on Halloween night, and we were married in the middle of a Hurricane. Although the city shut down the highways in and out of the city, we still managed a Second Line parade before the rain from Hurricane Nate hit, proving true our tagline “Only at Tulane, Only in New Orleans.”
Sarah Smith (B ’12, SLA ’12, L *18) and Cayman Clevenger (SLA ’12)
It was a Tuesday in Carville’s political science class. A lively debate led to an invitation to Cane’s. What followed was a snowball stand first date, a second date carriage ride, and a third date in City Park. Now a decade and two kids later and having experienced more adventures and happiness than anyone deserves in a lifetime, we are grateful Tulane brought us together!
Natasha Mattappally (SLA ’09) and Jay Mattappally (SSE ’08)
We met in 2007 at a Tulane Zeta Psi party…he was a senior and I was a junior! We’ve been together for 15 years, married 10, and have 3 kids now!
Ariella Rohr (SLA ’11, SLA *12) & Joe Rohr (SLA ’11, SSE ’11)
My husband and I met at Tulane. We first met outside of Boggs even before the first day of classes freshman year. We started dating in September of sophomore year, and this May we will celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary.
Lauri Hackett Gordon (E ’85) & David Gordon Sr., DDS (A&S ’85)
So, 40 Years Ago I spotted Lauri Hackett (BME ’85) serving beer during Rush Week at my ΔΤΔ House. A Brother informed me that she was Air Force ROTC and a Biomedical Engineering student. Wow! Beautiful PLUS BME Intelligent, Air Force Strong and Fun! Love at First Sight! I asked her to dance, she said “Yes” and “Yes” again in 1986 and we’ve been happily married ever since!
Chynna Watson (SSE ‘14) & Zarus Watson II (B ‘12)
We met in the campus bookstore in the Fall of 2010 and have been together ever since! We got married in the Botanical Garden in City Park as the charm reminded us of Tulane.
Susan Perin (NC ’71) & Steven Perin (E ’70)
Before classes started in the fall of 1967, I met Susan at my fraternity house. I was a junior and she was a new freshman. For me it was love at first sight. I eventually convinced her also and we were married in Houston in December 1970. Because of Tulane and Newcomb, we are blessed with 2 daughters and 1 son, all with amazing spouses, 7 grandchildren, and 52 years of marriage.
Leah Kahn (SW ’14) & Stephen Kahn (PHTM ’14)
Stephen and I met on Valentines Day 2014 at Pal’s Lounge while we were both Masters students at Tulane. Mardi Gras was coming up, and Stephen conveniently lived a quick walk from the St. Charles parade route. Recently single, I agreed to a date so I could use his bathroom during the parades. Nearly a decade later, we’re happily married and expecting our second child in March!
Beth Castillo (NC ’05) & Tom Dowell (TC ’05)
We met when a mutual friend introduced us at a party senior year. We bonded over our love of travel and fell for each other on a long road trip during spring break. From the parades to the paramos of Cotopaxi, we’ve been wandering the world together ever since – Laissez les bon voyages rouler!
Preeya Genz, DDS (NC ’02) and Dan Genz (TC ’02)
Without Tulane – meeting through a friend (❤️ you Emily DeDakis) and growing closer through the years first as friends, water basketball opponents, and Hullabaloo colleagues – there would be no Nola (our 10-year-old daughter) or her brother Kieran (7). Though we’ve gone a long way together since our college days, we always keep the New Orleans roots of our love close to our hearts and our airline miles.
Claire Yanta-O’Mahoney (SSE ’08, SSE *11) & Chase O”Mahoney (SLA ’08)
Chase spotted Claire in line at the bookstore the day before freshman year in 2004, they were in the same class day 1, Chase struck up a conversation (and silent crush), the two started to walk to class together, she tried to hook him up with friends, realized SHE had crush too, they married in 2013, had a son in 2021, and the rest is history. Laissez les bon temps rouler. Thanks, Tulane!
Katie Brien (L *16) & Andrew Brien (L *16)
Andrew and I met day one of our 1L orientation when he joined my lunch table. Shortly after he sat down we realized we were in the same section. Throughout 1L year we sat together in all of our classes, shared notes, studied for our exams together, and poked fun at our undergrad LSU/A&M rivalry. It wasn’t until 2L year that the friend in my section became my boyfriend! Fast forward a few years- Andrew proposed at Audubon Park just across from Tulane. We have now been married for three years and have two beautiful daughters! Thanks, Tulane!
Mary Ann Landry Baird (NC ’85) & Donald Baird (B ’84)
We met in the fall of 1983 in Spanish class and got engaged at the Gibson Quad in December of 1984. We were married in New Orleans in May 1985. Our youngest son graduated from Tulane in 2021. We have enjoyed this football season at Tulane and loved being here to celebrate their win.
Virginia Eber & Matt Solomon (B ’18)
We met two months into freshman year and started dating just before senior year. We made sure to stop by campus after our wedding to show everyone where we spent our time!
Anna Morgan Leonards (SLA *17, SLA *21) & Adam Griego (B ’14, B *18)
In May 2018, Anna-Morgan was a History PhD candidate, and Adam was an alumnus working in the Undergraduate Admission office when they found each other on Bumble. After more than four years, they have created a life together in New Orleans that includes their first home, a puppy, a 610 Stomper social calendar, and a Spring New Orleans wedding on the horizon.
Vanessa Christie (NC ’97) & Cameron Christie (TC ’97)
It was a very cold day on the Tchefuncte River with the Waterski Club when I met Cameron. He says that he fell in love that day. I didn’t know. I dated one man all four years at Tulane…not Cameron. We reunited nine years after graduation in Virginia Beach. I had just left the Navy (flying F-14s) and Cameron had just joined a year prior (Navy SEAL). We just celebrated 15 years in December.
Sydney Wolofsky (SSE ‘19) and Josh Diamond (Business ‘20)
Our friend introduced us at a hangout in Butler Hall. I heard his last name, asked if it was really “Diamond, like a Diamond”, and then told him I needed to marry him because mine is Wolofsky and I liked his better. Josh and his friends laughed, he said “sure!”, and now, in 3 months, I’ll be taking that last name, all thanks to Tulane.
Marla Krupman (NC ’85) BA & Danny Bernstein (A ’85)
We were friends at Tulane from the beginning; in fact, he dated my roommate junior year. But our cute-meet took place almost 25 years later when I was walking out of Fairway Market on the UWS, NYC. He tugged on my shirt sleeve and I turned around to see his familiar face. “What are you doing here?” I asked, startled. “Taking you to dinner!” he replied. Three years later we were married – in 2008.
Susan Harrison Hendrick (NC ’80) & Tom Hendrick (M *79)
I met my husband my junior year at Newcomb. He was a medical student and crashed a private party, thinking it was a mixer. We have been married 42 years.
Sarah (Goldberg) Bloch (SSE ’14) & Kyle Bloch (B ’15, B *15)
We met fall semester of freshman year living on the same floor of Wall. After a first date at Vincent’s on St. Charles, we’ve been together ever since. Surrounded by many Tulane friends, we got married in May 2022! We’re now representing the Green Wave as ex-pats all the way in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Kara Grossman (SLA ’13) & Nicholas Herbst (SLA ’13)
We didn’t actually meet at Tulane – we met while we were visiting our best friends from high school at University of Michigan during our senior year. We became fast friends and our friendship quickly turned into love back in NOLA. We ended undergrad together and our relationship bloomed even more when we moved back to our home city of NYC. 10 years and a move across the country later, we’re married! We got married in New Orleans in 2023.
Alison (Fendrick) Coyne (SSW ’92) & Adam Coyne (SLA ’93)
I didn’t meet my now-wife in class, at a Greek mixer, or even on campus. I parked in her spot in August at our shared apartment building, thinking no one was using it. I was wrong, but Ali was gracious about it and told me I could park there anytime. That started a friendship that led to romance that led to more than 25 years of marriage – and two more Tulane students (a sophomore and senior)!
Lauren Keizer Nathan, DDS (UC ’01) & Gil Nathan (B ’01)
My freshman year, a friend asked me if I knew of Gil as she thought we would be a good match. We finally met sophomore year both living on the 3rd floor of Irby. I was intrigued, so asked him out to my sorority party at the Gold Mine. We quickly fell for each other and dated throughout college, long-distance post college, and then married in Aruba in 2005. We live with our 3 children in Westport, CT.
Carol Miranda Robinson (NC ’77, G *79) & James David Robinson (A&S ’77)
A few passing moments freshman year 1973;
Sophomore year History of Jazz class started what was to be.
We then took a dance around the sun exploring others,
But returned, knowing we were meant for one another.
We graduated in 1977; married in 1978;
Tulane is the place that sealed our fate.
Three children, soon-to-be 4 grandchildren, and years married: 44;
So grateful for our Alma Mater who opened our future’s door.
Emily Engel (B ’98) & Dan Engel (B ’98)
I went up to her and her friend at their on campus dorm and asked if they’d like to join my friend and me and get 40 ounce malt liquor bottles to drink and galavant around New Orleans. She said no but I followed up another day (Sept 5, 1997) and we danced to Tracey Chapman songs at a party off campus, then spent the night dancing and making out for many hours at SIN night at House of Blues. Been together ever since. We now live in Santa Barbara CA with our two phenomenal children.
Audry Eppner (NC ’84) & David Eppner (A&S ’84)
What can I tell you about a girl from Newcomb who met a boy from Tulane & fell in love! We had friends in common & would often see each other on campus in passing. We ran into each at Camilla Grill & AT2s. One evening I was out with my girlfriends & he was out with frat bros. I said hi to David & I put my hand on his shoulder and that was it, he had fallen for me! Our 1st date was at Tin Lizzys for lunch and my room mate who was friends with both of us, sat at a separate table for support! David was too nervous to eat, said he was on a pseudo diet & has never uttered those words again! We have been together since through life’s ups & downs but stayed devoted to one another. 40 years and counting!
That’s our Tulane connection, our exceptional college experience was like none other!
Rachel Knapel Kaufman (B ’17) & Spencer Kaufman (B ’17)
Despite having mutual friends and living in the same dorms for several years, Spencer and Rachel had not crossed paths until the Spring semester of Junior year. Although both Spencer and Rachel were in the Business school, their relationship started when they took a Geology class together. What started out as study partners turned into something more. 7 years after meeting, the two got married on January 14th 2023 in their favorite city, New Orleans.
Dale Solomon Gold (NC ’50) & Vic Gold (A&S ’50)
Vic Gold and Dale Solomon Gold, met at Tulane at a George Washington’s Birthday dance (?!) in February 1947, and later worked together on the Hullabaloo staff.
They were a couple for 70 years and married for almost 66 years.
Kirsten Brill Chod (SSE ’09) & Ross Chod (M *12)
Kirsten and Ross met right before she graduated Tulane (class of 2009) and Ross was a second year medical student (class of 2011). Before they almost went their complete separate ways, NOLA knew they were meant to be. And so, their paths crossed. A little lagniappe, if you will.
We knew we wouldn’t have our wedding anywhere but New Orleans… a place of love, culture, adventure, and a side of gumbo. We got married in the spring of 2016 in the quarter. We now live in Denver and have three amazing kids!
Lindsey Friedfertig (SSE ’19) & Cam Friedfertig (B ’18, B *19)
We met through a mutual friend at Tulane in 2016 and moved to Chicago after school. We got married in September 2022 and have a cat named Nola. We try to make a trip back to New Orleans every year and most recently went to the conference championship in December!
Emily Lesniewski (B ’06) and Kurt Lesniewski (E ’06)
Kurt and I met at Tulane in 2003 when we were next door neighbors, living in Irby. We graduated in 2006 and now live outside of DC with our son Jordan and our two dogs.
Rachel Manikian Grossman (NC ’06) & Benjamin Grossman (B ’05)
Ben and I never met during our time at Tulane, despite graduating only a year apart and having several mutual friends. It took a NYC Alumni event- the Saints playoff game in January 2011- to put us in the same room. The Saints lost, but we decidedly won!
Hannah DeWit (SLA ’16) & Harris Rosenblum (SLA ’15)
Harris was in Green Envy Acappella and I was in THEM A Cappella, and we met at a joint a cappella party. Over eight years later we made it official 💚
Katie Connolly (SSE ’16) & Spencer Reiter (B ’16)
In Summer of 2014, Spencer and I met on a Tulane Birthright trip. After 10 days of knowing each other, Spencer asked me to be his girlfriend on the flight home. 6 years later (2 weeks before COVID hit!), Spencer asked me to be his wife under the live oaks at Audubon. We feel so lucky to have had some of our earliest memories together as Tulane students and exploring beautiful New Orleans.
Kim Privor (NC ’95) & Brian Privor (TC ’95)
We met the first weekend of freshman year outside what was then Waldo’s on Freret. More than 30 years later: married for 23, three cities, several house renovations, a few jobs, more than 25 jazz fests, one 14 year old daughter and one crazy french bulldog.
Dana Linder (B ’02) & Jon Cohen (SLA ’04)
Dana and Jon met at mutual friends Super Bowl Party in 2001. Jon a Freshmen and Dana a Junior. For Jon, love at first sight, for Dana she needed more time. The following year, they left a sorority date party together (ditching their dates) and fell madly in love. Together for 21 years, married 14 years, living in Los Angeles with 2 daughters they hope will go to Tulane one day.
Laura Scaglione (SLA ’08) & Jeff Mandel (SLA ’08)
My husband and I met on Mo 11 in 2004 and got married ten years later. We’re both the class of ‘08 and can’t wait for our 15th Reunion this year.
Annick Brand Feigenbaum (B ’12) & Matthew E. Feigenbaum (B ’09)
Annick and Matt met at a Mardi Gras parade during her freshman, and his senior year! After graduation, they bought their first home in Uptown New Orleans. They brought all of their friends back down to NOLA and got married at the Hotel Monteleone on 10.10.15. After 12 perfect years, they have moved back to the Northeast where they both grew up. Annick and Matt welcomed their first son in November, little Cooper Jazz!
Daisy Gurdián Kane (NC ’07, L *10, PHTM *20) & Chris Kane (L *10)
My husband Chris and I met as 1Ls Tulane law school in 2010. Chris maintains that it was love at first sight but it wasn’t until the summer of our 2L year that we grew to be more than just friends. We were at a Better Than Ezra concert with a group of friends at the House of Blues and by the end of the night we were dating exclusively. We’ve been together ever since! Fast forward 13 years later, we have 4 beautiful kids and are both practicing lawyers in NOLA.
Poppie (Dawn) Hutcherson (NC ’91) & David Greenlee (SLA ’91)
Dawn and I met while taking a class called Intimate Relationships during summer session of 1989. We started dating the Fall of ‘89 and then married Summer of ‘91. We were divorced in 1995 and twenty years later got back together again. We still visit Tulane every other year from our home in Kentucky. Green Wave Love Lasts a Lifetime!!!!
Susie Kirshenbaum Raizner (B ’90) & Jeff Raizner (SLA ’89)
We met in geology class in Dinwiddy Hall my sophomore year. A few weeks later, we both had our last first date. We got married 3 years later, and here we are today married 31 lucky, beautiful years with 3 children, two of whom are also Tulane graduates PHTM ‘18 and B ‘22. Thank you Tulane❤️
